Results decisive in Floyd County Sheriff race, Roberson earns second term
Floyd County Sheriff Dave Roberson swept his competitor, Robbie Whitfield, 5,246 votes to 1,354, winning 79.5% of the vote and all 19 precincts to gain a second term in office. "It's difficult to put into words how grateful I am for everyone who played a part in our decisive win," Roberson said. SPLOST-funded mental health facility opens at Floyd County Jail
After years of waiting on funds to come through and months of construction and shipment delays, the Floyd County Jail finally has a facility to serve people with mental illness who come through the system. “We have a lot of people in need at our jail and we want to make sure they receive the treatment they need while they’re here,” Sheriff Dave Roberson said at the ribbon cutting ceremony. Fundraising: Floyd County Sheriff race keeps local focus
The race for Floyd County sheriff has seen over $50,000 flow into the coffers of local businesses, although spending by the two candidates is decidedly lopsided. Challenger Robbie Whitfield reported $5,402 cash on hand compared to $71,306 for incumbent Sheriff Dave Roberson. Roberson reported $28,574 in donations this period, which brought his total to $117,384. He spent $22,035 between Feb. 1 and April 30, making a total of $46,078 for this campaign. F.R.E.E.D: Sheriff Dave Roberson
In his first order of business upon his election, Sheriff Dave Roberson established the groundbreaking program F.R.E.E.D. (Floyd Re-Entry Education and Discharge), and named Jenn Cronan Offender Services Unit Manager. The program’s mission is to increase public safety and reduce recidivism by providing positive opportunities to transition offenders from jail to the community.
